-          The first subphrase is all in the tonic harmony (I)

-          The second subphrase is split between subdominant and dominant harmonies (two measures of IV then two measures of I)

-          The third subphrase harmony is structured as one measure of V, one measure of IV, then two measures of I

-          The final measure of I may contain a V7 chord to “turn around” the tune back to the start of the pattern.
