- Chordal dissonances of the V7 chord should resolve to pitches of the I
chord.
- If the leading tone is present, it should resolve up by step to the tonic
- If the chordal 7th is present (subdominant of the key), it should resolve
down by step to the median.
- If the dominant pitch is present, it should resolve to a note in the I
chord (usually the tonic, or stay the same)
- If the supertonic pitch is present, it should resolve to a note in the
I chord (usually the tonic).
