-          The lowest C on the keyboard is labeled C1

-          All keys to the right of C1, but prior to the next C, are part of octave 1 and are named C#1/Db1, D1, D#1/Eb1, E1, F1 etc.

-          The next C on the keyboard is labeled C2, and the notes to the right of that are all part of octave 2.. C#2/Db2, D2, D#2/Eb2, E2, F2 etc.

-          This same pattern takes place for C3, C4, C5, C6, C7, C8

-          C8 is the highest pitch on a standard 88-key keyboard

-          The three keys to the left of C1 are part of octave “0”
