- To resolve the chord

o Leading tone should resolve up by step
o Scale degree 4 (5th of the chord) should resolve down by step
o The chordal seventh (scale degree 6) should resolve down by step
o The final chord member (scale degree 2) should move up or down by step careful to avoid parallel or unequal fifths
o NOTE: Like with the previous objective, the direct 5ths are allowed if it occurs through upward step motion in both bass and soprano creating parallel 10ths.
